Potting Up

MGC’s very large shipment of bareroot and plug perennials will arrive in early March.  For our newest members, this means it is time to ‘party’ in the greenhouse – get our hands in the soil, discover how much we don’t know about plant structure, pot up thousands of plants to grow on for the sale, and start making a shopping list.  Being together in the warm and sunny Upper Greenhouse (behind Town Hall) is a lovely experience that members look forward to each spring.

This year’s dates and times for the potting up were:
          Saturdays, March 16 and 23, 10 a.m. to Noon and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
          Sundays, March 17 and 24, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
          Weekdays, March 18, 21 and 25, 10 a.m. to Noon

Many, many thanks to all the members who helped to pot up thousands of plants at our March “Potting Up Parties” Vicki, Joelle, Rona, Jeanne, Terri S., Ann H., Bethany, Maureen, Joanne D., Ann B., Terry K., Juliet P., Carolyn, Robert, Bernadette, Debby, Anne S., Francine, Matthew, Ginny N., Sarah R., Julia R., Michelle, Roz, Diane B., Val M., Ginny M., Maida, Jacques, Diane L., Lori, Joanne R., Val P., Ann B. #2, Mary-Ellen, Peggy, Jane, George, Margo, Jess. My special thanks to Joanne B., Kathy K., Alex, Peter, Kris, Ray, Pauline, Joseph, Bill and David for keeping things running smoothly both with the plants and the endless soil (not dirt!) production. Nice to meet so many newer members, and very nice to be with familiar friends again.

These Potting-Up Parties are a lot of fun and I look forward to seeing you there at next year’s parties of the Upper Greenhouse.

Come and join the fun!
