“PLANT TREES: NATURE’S UNSUNG HEROES”

THE SKATE HOUSE ON OAKVIEW ROAD IN MEMORIAL PARK

This was the theme of Cecelia Millea’s tenure as the 2021- 2023 President of the Garden Club of New Jersey, and it is the title of the $1,000 Grant awarded to MGC for a project, executed with another local organization, that focuses on the planting of native trees.

MGC is excited to partner with the Maplewood Memorial Park Conservancy (MMPC) on a project to restore the tree canopy around the children’s playground at the north end of the park at Oakland Road.

MGC members, families, and children of all ages are invited to join in the planting fun on Sunday, October 15. We will meet at the Skate House on Oakview Road in Memorial Park at 9 am! Bring a shovel and wear gardening gloves, gear that can get dirty, and be ready to dig, plant and water the new additions to the trees of Memorial Park.
