Subject: Rainbow of Dahlias
Speakers: Fred Carl
This presentation offers an informative look at the world of dahlias, highlighting their wide range of colors, forms, and growing habits. Through a series of slides & personal stories, this program explores the basics of dahlia cultivation, including planting techniques, season care, and tips for maintain healthy blooms. Whether you’re new to dahlias or have been growing them for years, the presentation will provide practical insights and a deeper appreciation for these striking plants.
Biography
Fred’s family has been growing dahlias since 1928 as a part-time passion. Five generations have helped. After a long career working with computer, Fred retired from Princeton University Physics Department. As a volunteer starting in 1993, Fred led the successful effort to establish the 37-acre Camp Evens Historic District in Wall Township. This saved it from destruction. Now a National Historic Landmark, Camp Evans is managed by the InfoAge Science and History Museums. Eight museums have been established to create an awesome visitor experience.
