The March Club Meeting (Open to the General Public).
Presentation by VictorIa Johnson (www.americaneden.org)
Come listen to historian and Hunter College Associate Professor Victoria Johnson’s captivating lecture based on her new book, American Eden. This is the story of how in 1801 Dr. David Hosack, the doctor at the Hamilton-Burr duel, founded the first public botanical garden in the new nation, amassing a spectacular collection of medicinal, agricultural, and ornamental plants that brought him worldwide praise. Today, Dr. Hosack’s former garden is the site of Rockefeller Center. Victoria will have copies of her book available for purchase.
