The Maplewood Garden Club has received the following awards:

2018 Maple Leaf Award

On Sunday, May 6, 2018, the Maplewood Garden Club was honored as recipient of the Maple Leaf Award for volunteer and community service. “This year’s Maple Leaf Award recipients include relatively long-time residents of Maplewood. Whether the volunteer work of this year’s recipients has been given for service to maintain and enhance the character of Maplewood and its traditions; for the support and enrichment of opportunities for young people; for the conservancy and beautification of Maplewood; for the care and health of Maplewood’s children and adults; or for the safety and well-being of our community, these volunteers are exceptional individuals whose dedication and service have made Maplewood a better place to live,” said Mary Devon O’Brien, Chairman of the Maple Leaf Awards.

2018 GCNJ Awards

Madeline Brown-Paris with Garden Club of New Jersey President Louise Davis with the silver trophies awarded on Thursday, June 6.  MGC won these awards:

  1. Hazel Brown Sternat Civic Beautification Trophy “for a project that has improved, benefited and beautified a historic place stimulating civic pride and spirit” for the Durand-Hedden House Herb Garden
  2. Medford Lakes Garden Club Trophy for a Native Garden “for creating a landscape garden accessible to the public using predominantly native plant material” for the Hilton Rain Garden
  3. Demarest Garden Club Yearbook Award “for a large club for the highest rated Yearbook”
  4. Membership Award “to a garden club with membership of fifty or more having the highest percentage increase in new members”
